Shiraz 2003,04,05,06 vintages
All these vintages are now sold out at the cellar door, but there are some bottles still for sale in d’Aquino’s wine store in Orange.
The Shiraz 2004 was a wine that acquired bottle age slowly, and after two years it became one of the finest tasting wines from this vineyard, and then it sold very quickly! Complex aromas, and a good peppery touch.
The Shiraz 2005 was the first vintage made by Chris Derrez, and it was well received with the local wine critic writing: “A good, honest wine. The bouquet is full of youthful and vibrant plum and floral aromas with a solid palate of dark berries and pepper. There is an excellent length of flavour”
Again made by Chris Derrez, the 2006 vintage was strong coloured with dark cherry and plum aromas, and berry fruit tastes and a lingering finish.
James Halliday 2009 assessment: Moody’s Orange Shiraz 2006
Screw-cap. 12.5% alc. Rating 86 Date Tasted Nov 07
Fair to good. Wine with plenty of flavour (usually varietal)
Good balance, free of technical faults.
Has the potential to, and normally aspires to, improve.
